Central Avenue Bridge Nominated as Historical Landmark

Hello Neighbors,

The Central Avenue Bridge has been nominated to become a Historical Landmark in the City of Albuquerque. PHNA President Julie Radoslovich attended a Landmarks Commission meeting where the nomination was discussed.

Originally constructed in 1930, with revisions in 1953 and 1983, the Central Avenue Bridge was a key part in the expansion of Albuquerque. Historic Route 66 and the Central Avenue Bridge, which runs directly alongside our neighborhood’s boundaries, allowed highway traffic to reliably cross the Rio Grande for the first time. We will share more information with you as it becomes available!
